As confirmed on their social media pages, Salford City has announced the exit of Striker Matt Green from the club after spending only six months of his deal with the club.
Green was expected, based on his contract, to spend two-and-a-half years with the Ammies. It is believed that his exit is not unconnected to the arrival of John Akinde. Akinde who is a product of Spurs youth academy, also joined Stalford city from League one side, Lincoln city. Green scored 4 goals for the Ammies in his 21 appearances after leaving Danny Cowley’s side where he won the 2017-18 EFL cup.
The 32-year-old former Cardiff and Birmingham city player is now on the lookout for a new club. Details from Salford’s Twitter account suggests that he might be heading back to Lincolnshire. Another possibility is that he could be heading Mansfield Town where he enjoyed two successful seasons under the watch of Steve Evans who later left after Green was released as a free agent.
